AIM OF THE COLLOQUIUM

Making effective business decisions in the era of artificial intelligence (AI), at one hand and sustainability, at the other hand, continues to pose challenges that research is destined to provide answers for. XLRI - Xavier School of Management (Jamshedpur) is pleased to announce its Doctoral Colloquium 2024 for all doctoral students in the areas of AI and sustainability who are either at early proposal stage or advanced stage of their thesis work.

The purpose of this Doctoral Colloquium at XLRI is to provide an interdisciplinary forum to researchers worldwide to discuss and debate research gaps, novel approaches to research and theory integration to answer the challenges at hand and in the future.

This event will provide a platform for doctoral scholars and early career researchers in different areas of management studies to present their work and get feedback to refine the theoretical and methodological foundations of their thesis. It will also provide an opportunity to interact with scholars and early career researchers and network with peers sharing common interests. The Doctoral Colloquium will also feature presentations/workshops by leading academicians.

ABOUT XLRI

XLRI - Xavier School of Management is a private business school run by the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India. XLRI was founded in 1949 in the steel city of Jamshedpur and is the oldest business school in India. The institute, currently in its 74th year, will be celebrating its Platinum Jubilee in 2024.

XLRI is the recipient of two international accreditations, AACSB and AMBA. XLRI is recognized among the best management institutes in India and is ranked ninth in the NIRF 2023 ranking. It is also the first institution to conceive and create a technology-enabled and interactive online executive education program. Over the years, XLRI has developed a distinct identity for itself. XLRI offers a wide range of academic programs in the field of management education. These include Post Graduate Programmes in Business Management\Human Resource Management, XLRI - RBS Double Master’s Programme in Supply Chain Management & Supply Chain Analytics, Fellow Programme in Management, Executive Fellow Programme in Management, and Executive PG Programmes for working executives. In addition, XLRI actively is involved in training practitioners and academicians through Management Development Programmes, Faculty Development Programmes and so on.

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION

Students/authors wishing to present at the Doctoral Colloquium are requested to submit the following on or before 5th March 2024:

A manuscript not exceeding 5000 words excluding references OR an extended abstract not exceeding 1000 words excluding references
    A one-page cover sheet with the following Information:
    • Author’s Name, academic affiliation, and contact details
    • Track for review
    • Title of thesis
    • Current stage in research journey
    • Three key concerns or questions you would like reviewers to consider when they critique your thesis work
    Title page should be submitted separate from the manuscript. Title page should include authors’ names, affiliations and email addresses.
      Format - Margin 1 inch on all sides, Times New Roman 12 points, Line Spacing 2
        The e-mail subject line and the document name should be in the format - Track_FirstName_LastName
          Those who submit full papers, a discussant will be attached who will review the paper and share detailed comments. Presentations for such papers will be of 40 minutes duration.

            Registration fee of INR 1000 will be charged.

            There are large number hotels available in the Jamshedpur city and nearby XLRI. In addition to these hotels limited number of accommodations is also available at XLRI Jamshedpur Guest House.

            For booking accommodation one needs to forward their request to the conference committee. The available rooms will be allotted on First Come Firsts Serve basis. We are negotiating to make the accomodation available at the most economic price available.

            The Conference will take care of the venue and accomodation of regular student participation. Check again this site to find the price for others, including industry practitioners, academic scholars and early career researchers and research students.

            LOCAL INFORMATION

            Jamshedpur or Tatanagar is the largest and most populous city in Jharkhand and the first planned industrial city in India. It is a Notified Area Council and Municipal Corporation and also the headquarter of the East Singhbhum district. It is a popular tourist destination known for its forests, ancient temples and royal palaces. It was founded by Jamsetji Tata, founder of the Tata Group, and was named after him. It was established in 1919.

            Jamshedpur was ranked as the cleanest city of India in 2020 by Swach Survekshan. The city is also ranked as 2nd in India in terms of quality of life. Jamshedpur is the 84th fastest growing city in the world according to City Mayors Foundation. It is the headquarters of the East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand and is the 36th – largest urban agglomeration and 72nd largest city in India by population. It is one of the first Smart Cities in India along with Naya Raipur.

            Jamshedpur has a number of popular tourist destinations, including Jubilee Park, Dalma Wild Life Sanctuary Dimna Lake,Tata Steel Zoological Park, JRD Tata Sports Complex, and The Russi Modi Centre of Excellence.

            HOW TO REACH

            The Railway Station at Jamshedpur is known as Tatanagar and is well connected by Trains from Alleppy, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Kolkata (Howrah), Mumbai, Patna and Pune. The nearest airports to Jamshedpur are Kolkata and Ranchi. The Journey will take approximately 3.5 hours to 4 hours to reach Jamshedpur from Kolkata by train and 2.5 hours to 3 hours from Ranchi by road.

            XLRI Campus is about 7 kms from the Tatanagar Railway Station and can safely be reached by auto - rickshaws or taxis round-the-clock at a reasonable charge of Rs. 120/- and Rs. 200/- respectively (approximate rates). XLRI is located near the Jubliee Park in the Circuit House Area (East). The campus has two gates - one opens to the Marine Drive and the other to CH Area. XLRI campus can be approached from either of the gates.

            The XLRI-Xavier School of Management, a pioneer in ethics education since its inception in 1949, is proud to announce the upcoming International Conference on “Enabling Social and Business Responsibility.” This conference, part of XLRI’s Platinum Jubilee, aims to serve as a platform for scholars and early career researchers, practitioners, and industry experts from various disciplines to deliberate on the pressing issues related to ethics and responsibility in both social and business contexts.
